5 Mar: Season Ticket Initiative Should Be Commended. Within 3 months of it’s formation, in October 2005, BRISA, submitted a thirty page Improving Attendance Report to the club in January 2006, which highlighted that one of the major factors in the decline in attendances was the cost of attending Premiership football; stating that in recent years, the cost of watching football has risen astronomically, to a point that it was pricing many of these fans out of watching the game on a regular basis. On the 13th February two members of the BRISA committee addressed specific questions from the report to John Williams and Tom Finn. At this meeting it was evident that it was not viable to reduce ticket costs further if Rovers were to maintain competitive in the transfer market and retain their premiership status. BRISA recognised that Rovers stood up well in comparison to the other Premiership clubs, with some of the cheapest tickets in the Premiership and that Rovers couldn’t slash their ticket prices independently if they wanted to remain competitive in the league. However, twelve months on, Rovers have shown that they listen to the supporters comments and instead of pocketing the extra revenue from a lucrative new television broadcasting contract, they have given something back to the fans, by reducing season ticket prices on average of 25% for the 2007-08 season.
The club should therefore be commended on their Season Ticket initiative released on Friday, under the marketing slogan of. WE BELIEVE FOOTBALL IS FOR FANS. Lets hope the remainder of Premiership clubs take note and pass on the benefits of increased revenue to their supporters. |

20 Feb: BRISA To Work With Fans Forum. During the autumn BRISA approached the Fans' Forum and the club to discuss the, then, existing position regarding the Fans' Forum. At the time circumstances had prevented the Fans' Forum from meeting on a regular basis. Fans' Forum members, the club and BRISA were all keen to see the forum rejuvenated and meeting on a regular basis. Very positive discussions took place to establish the best way to move forward. From these meetings it was concluded: All concerned wished to see the Fans' Forum meet on a regular basis Martin Howarth (the existing chairman) wished to, and should, continue to chair the forum BRISA would provide the necessary secretarial and admin backup Fans' Forum meetings should be scheduled for 2007 Minutes of all meetings should be made widely available to all supporters Prior to meetings with the club a planning meeting should be held
